Hello bookworms! How are you all?
I am so happy to be back blogging again. Life just got so busy with university and work and I just found no time to sit down and write a blog post. But alas, I am back!
Today I am going to be talking about the books I read in July and August. I was in a bit of a slump but I still managed to read 10 books overall.
1. Ao Haru Ride volume 2
If you follow me on any of my bookish social media, you’ll already know that I am really into Manga at the moment. The first book I read in July was Ao Haru Ride (volume 2) which is a romance. I see people online absolutely addicted to this manga series, and I did enjoy it but I found the romance to be a bit controlling and unhealthy? But that is just my personal opinion. I still rated this 3 🌟s and still do recommend it.
2. All The Bright Places
So during the past two months I got my heart completely broken due to this book. This book was absolutely beautiful. I loved the characters, I loved the romance and I loved the mental illness aspect to it, too. As I am currently training to become a mental health nurse, I am trying to read more books with mental health rep in and this book was a good one to start with! I rated it 4.5 🌟s.
3. This Is Going To Hurt
Oh my goodness, this book was fantastic. It had me crying of laughter and it is a book that will stick with me for the rest of my life. I rated it 4.5 🌟s.
4. Her Last Breath
This is a book that I went into with no expectations as I haven’t ever heard anything about this book before. It was a really easy read and kept me interested. However, the ending kind of ruined it for me so I rated it 3 🌟s.
5. Sex Criminals (vol. 1)
This is a graphic novel that my boyfriend got me and it was really enjoyable. It was a unique concept which was carried out well. I rated this book 3.75 🌟s.
6. Y: The Last Man (vol. 1)
This is my favourite graphic novel of all time! From the moment I picked it up I was completely hooked and I finished it in two sittings. I really recommend it and I rated it 5 🌟s!
7. Heretics Anonymous
I listened to this book on Scribd. I would listen to this on my commutes to work in the mornings and considering I listened to it on double speed I finished it very fast! I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun and I recommend it. 3.75 🌟s.
8. The Diviners
Oh my goodness, I loved this book! It has been on my bookshelves for so long and I kept putting it off due to it being (kinda) long but I am so glad I picked it up. The main character was one of my favourites ever and the plot was so interesting and I loved the time era it was based in. I rated this 4.5 🌟s.
9. Salt to The Sea
I can’t think about this book without tearing up, seriously. Ruta Sepetys is an incredible author and I have loved every book of hers that I have read. She writes about very important subjects and does it very honestly and I think she’s one of my favorite authors, ever. I rated it 4.75 🌟s.
10. The Devouring Gray
I read this book in two sittings! I really enjoyed this book and I already want to read it again. The characters were great, the writing style was great and I was hooked! I rated it 4.75 🌟s.
Those are the books I read in July and August! As you can see, most of them I rated 4 stars or above meaning I had a really good reading month. Let’s hope September is the same!
