The Halloween Creatures Book Tag

hello, bookworms! As many of you know, I love doing book tags. I have seen this one floating about on my wordpress, and I just knew I had to do it. No one tagged me.. but that doesn’t stop me! This tag was created by Anthony – Keep Reading Forward!

Just a quick added-in note: my mental health has (again) took a turn for the worst recently, which is the reason why I haven’t been posting a lot. I am so sorry and so ashamed that it has taken a toll on all of my bookish social media. I don’t know how long I am going to be in this slump for, but I hope it isn’t too long and that I can get back to posting normally soon. Thank you all for understanding.

Anyway! Back to it, Autumn and Winter are my favourite seasons, and I enjoy them both so much. I also love Halloween with a passion, I used to love dressing up when I was younger (younger being not too long ago to be honest!) and getting sweets (of course).

To the tag!

Witch – A Magical Character or Book

A magical book that I am currently reading is A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I am 150 pages in and really liking it. However, it is a very large book and I am feeling rather intimidated by it. I hope I continue on, though, because I am finding it a lot of fun!

Werewolf – The Perfect Book to Read at Night

This is an obvious answer; but Harry Potter. Especially the ones later in the series. The series get more dark as the books go on, which I think is perfect to read late at night. I am looking so forward to rereading the series later on this year during the Winter (which I do annually).

Frankenstein – A Book that Truly Shocked You

A book that shocked me is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Not because it is a thriller or mystery, but because it was so good. I went into this book not expecting to really enjoy it, but it became one of my favourite books of all time and that surprised me a lot. I bought Markus Zusak’s new book today and I can’t wait to read it.

The Devil – A Dark, Evil Character

One of my favourite dark characters of all time is The Darkling from The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I went into this series with low expectations (just being honest!) and I came out with a new favourite. Seige and Storm was my favourite book of 2017 and I am planning on rereading the series at some point, so I can fall in love all over again. The only thing I hate about the series is the character Mal, he gets on my nerves and I have never hated a character as much as I hate him.

Grim Reaper – A Character that Should Never Have Died

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a book I went into with no expectations at all, but I came out with a new favourite. I got so upset when Celia St. James died. I’m not going to say anything more about this book, but you have to read it! It is so good!

Zombie – A Book that Made You “Hungry” for More

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. I have no idea why I haven’t yet read the second or third book in this series, but I will get to it. I plan on rereading The Bone Season before continuing on.

Gargoyle – A Character that You Would Protect at All Costs

A character that I’d protect at all costs is Enne Salta from Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody. This is one of my favourite books of the year and it was so much fun! Enne is such a sweet character and I just want to wrap her up in bubble wrap.

Vampire – A Book that Sucked the Life Out of You

Ahhhhhh… Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I have tried twice to read this book but both times I DNFd it at 200 pages. I do plan on trying one more time but I just don’t know…

Ghost – A Book that Still Haunts You

Before I Go To Sleep by S. J. Watson. I couldn’t believe the plot twist and it freaked me out so much. I still think of it to this day (I read it a couple of years ago!) and ‘I remember making my boyfriend watch the film with me but he guessed the plot twist straight away.. it annoyed me so much. This is a definite case of the book is better than the film! READ IT FIRST BEFORE YOU WATCH IT.

Skeleton – A Character You Have a Bone to Pick With

Definitely Mal from The Grisha Trilogy. What the fuck is up with him? He is a character that I genuinely detest. When I read the books, I was constantly thinking “what the fuck is his problem?” and nearly crying at how much he was irritating me. Honestly, I have such a problem with him.

Mummy – A Book You Would Preserve Throughout Time

Definitely all the Sherlock Holmes stories. I have read most of them and love them all so dearly. It is a collection of books that will definitely stay with me forever and will reread multiple times in my lifetime.

Creepy Doll – A Cover Too Scary to Look At

I dont know… I don’t own any scary covers. Maybe The Skulduggery Pleasant books? They all have scary characters on them and are quite creepy.

So that’s the tag! Thank you all for reading.
