So, I know what you’re thinking; that we’re still only a little bit through September. And yes, you’re right. However, I went to Waterstones yesterday and bought a couple of books that I really want to share with you.
I am unsure as to when I will get around to reading some of these books as I am currently reading seven. I am planning on putting some on hold, though, as reading seven books at one time is too much for me. I think I am just struggling to chose which books I feel like reading, so I’m just picking up loads to see which ones I enjoy. I also think I am in a bit of a reading slump and I am seriously hating it. Hopefully, I’ll read a book soon which gets me out of it.
But anyway, here are the books I bought:
1. The Well Of Ascension (Mistborn, 2) by Brandon Sanderson
I am currently reading book one of the Mistborn trilogy: The Final Empire and I am loving it so much! The magic system in this book is so unique and interesting, and I love the politics. I am only 100 pages in, but I already feel like this is going to be one of my new favourite trilogies.
2. City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab
The Monsters of Verity duology is one of my favourites of all time. I also really enjoyed A Darker Shade of Magic which I read a couple of months ago (I am planning on finishing that trilogy soon), and Vicious. However, when I found out that Victoria Schwab was releasing a middle grade novel, I jumped onto that fandom bandwagon and I have been awaiting the release for months. I am so glad my local Waterstones had it in stock and I jumped at the chance of buying it and it went straight into my basket. I am so excited to read it!
3. Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman
I have been seeing a lot about Akemi Dawn Bowman on my bookish twitter (@frstpagewonders – without the I, if you fancy following me. I follow back!) and I decided to pick up her very-talked-about novel: Starfish. I also hear that this author is going to be releasing a book about mood disorders, which is highly anticipated for me as I have a mood disorder, too, and am excited to see how she portrays it. The cover to Starfish is also beautiful, very well done to whoever designed it!
4. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
I have seen this book a lot around booktube, and it is also a movie now which means I must read it before I see it. To be honest, I am unsure as to what it is about but however, am still excited to read it.
5. The Price Guide To The Occult by Leslye Walton
I am still yet to read The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by this author which is more popular. It is not in stock at my local Waterstones and it hasn’t been for a while which is so annoying. However, when I saw this in stock I just knew I had to buy it. I am looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about in regards to her writing style.
6. The Macmillan: Alice In Wonderland Postcards
Due to me being quite low in mood recently, my boyfriend bought me some Alice In Wonderland postcards as he knows just how much I love the book. I have Alice In Wonderland merchandise everywhere in my room: from soft toys, to post cards, to a picture of Alice falling down the rabbit hole and the shape of this being created in words from the first chapter of the book, to figurines. This is such a good investment for me, and I’ll very likely be using the postcards for bookmarks as they are beautiful.
Those are the books I bought/received in the month of September (so far). I am putting myself on a book buying ban from now, purely because:
Thank you for reading!
