Top 5 YA Fantasy Books I’d Like To Read and 5 I’d Like To Reread

hello bookworms! How has your week been?

As most of you may know, YA fantasy is my favourite book genre. There’s no reason for this, other than I love putting my head phones in, reading about another world and being fully invested in it. I love to imagine I’m living in the world myself, it calms my anxieties and makes me feel relaxed.

I obviously have over 5 YA fantasy books I’d like to read, but I have managed to cut it down to the 5 I am most desperate to get to:

1. Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I brought Strange The Dreamer the day it was released. I also managed to get a signed copy (mwahahaha) which I was so happy about. It is unknown why this book is still on my TBR, there is no excuse that I can give you as to why this book hasn’t been read yet. I think this is the book that’s highest on my TBR, I really think that I will get to it soon. I have to!

2. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

This is another book that I have owned for ages. Again, there is no excuse as to why I haven’t read it yet. I hear it’s amazing and very gruesome, which I really enjoy!

3. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

This book is so highly talked about in the bookish community, I feel like I’m about to get so much hate for not yet reading it! There’s no excuse, I just haven’t got to it yet.

4. The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

In my defence, I have only just brought this book. I have had my eye on it for a while; since before it was released. The premise seems so amazing and it is a debut novel. I hope it is amazing!

5. Everless by Sara Holland

I must admit, I mainly picked up this book because of the beautiful cover! Since picking it up, I have heard the premise from multiple videos on booktube and I have to say it seems very interesting! Because I bought this book, my boyfriend gifted me the film In Time which apparently has kind of the same premise. Can’t wait to read this book, though!

Those are the YA fantasy novels that I’d like to read, I have also many YA fantasy books that I’d love to reread. I understand that a lot of people dislike rereading novels, they find it boring, however I really enjoy rereading books. These are five most YA fantasy books that I’d like to reread in the near future: (EDIT: it ends up being more than five, I know.)

1. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I read this book last month, and I had so much in my life going on that I ended up not paying much attention to it and when finishing it, only giving it 3 stars. However, despite the fact I was practically skimming through it, I could tell there was a lot of promising aspects of the book. Because of this, I have decided to give this book another chance. I believe that this book is much better than I first thought so I want to read it again soon and hopefully enjoy it just as much as others do.

2. Harry Potter books 4-7

(Picture does not belong to me.)

I really want to reread books 4-7 of the Harry Potter series. However, I really don’t like The Goblet of Fire which is what I am due to reread next. I haven’t decided whether I am just going to pass the GoF or if I am going to force myself through it. Whatever happens, though, I am planning on continuing on with the series.

3. The Percy Jackson and The Last Olympians series

I read the first three of these books two years ago but I never continued on with the series. However I am motivated to reread and finish this series, and then continue on with the Heroes of Olympus series. I have heard great things about Rick Riordan’s work that I can’t pass on reading all of his works.

4. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

I love this book so much. I have no idea why I never continued on with the series, I think I just ended up reading other things and completely forgot about this one. I really want to reread this book and then continue and finish the series.

5. Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder

(Picture does not belong to me.)

Ahh, I loved the first two books in this series. Again, I am hoping to reread this book and then continue on with the series. I am hoping to at least read the original trilogy this year.

THERE YOU HAVE IT. Those are my top YA fantasy books that I’d like to read in the near future.

QOTD: What is your favourite fantasy novel?

Thanks for reading!

  1. Ooohhh I’ve yet got to read Strange The Dreamer and Nevernight too! They seem so awesome ♥️ Three Dark Crowns and One Dark Throne have been on my shelves for what feels like ages and I haven’t read them yet 😂 and Percy Jackson is really really amazing! They’re the first books I ever read in English and I’ve been meaning to reread them for so long

  2. Lovely post! Your post made me think that I really need to reread Daughter of Smoke and Bone too since I never continued with the series either (for unknown reasons). I did try to read the second book, but didn’t have much luck, probably because of my mood.
You’re probably the only person I hear that gave less than five stars to The Cruel Prince, but it might be because of the reason you stated or just because it’s not your cup of tea, either one is okay! ❤

    1. That’s the same as me – never had a reason I just didn’t continue reading them! Haha I know, I’m the only one I know who has rated TCP low, I will reread it though because even though I was in a slump I could tell that it had such a promising set up.
